American Cherry Casework // Blister Maple Top & Drawers // Handcut Dovetail High-Arch Bracket Base // Oil Finish // Hand Scraped Surfaces // Precision Fit Drawers // Hand Turned Walnut Knobs

Classic styling and proportions highlight the beautiful figure of the Blister Maple drawer fronts and top carefully arranged to ensure continuous grain pattern across the front of the entire chest. The hand turned knobs are made with black walnut and are tennoned through the entire solid wood drawer front with a wedge in the back to ensure they will never come loose. The cherry casework is dovetailed together with joinery visible on the front of the case.

Methods of Work

The shaker inspired high arch bracket base is dovetailed with the top section of the joint cut as a miter. This allows for the seamless integration of the cove trim cut directly into the structure of the base rather than an applied moulding that would come loose over time. The dovetails are on full display on each corner adding a signifigant amount of strength and beautiful architectural interest. The dovetails are cut by hand and close examination reveals the subtle differences in agles and sizing in relation to each other as well as toolmarks and other evidence of masterful craftsmanship.
